Have you ever wanted to escape? Ever felt trapped? Well your challenge, should you chose to accept it, is to get as far away as possible, for free...
This is a sponsored event in which you need to team up with one, two or three people and get as far away from the starting point as possible in 24 hours, without spending a penny (in the literal sense... we will let you go to the toilet).
Have you got the gift of the gab? Could you talk your way into free rail travel to Liverpool or even get a flight to Asia? Well, now's the time to test that, and think big! You need to be as creative and persuasive as you can to win this challenge by blagging free travel for your team from one destination to the next. You can use as many different vehicles as you like to complete your journey, or stop after just one if you feel you have travelled as far as you can. You are permitted to pay for your return journey if free travel is not possible. (See rules for full details).
So we're escaping, but is there a bigger point? Well, for one thing, each member of the team managing to travel the furthest by the end of the challenge will win a pair of trainers of their choice from those lovely people at Descript Footwear.
AND, the bigger point is Jailbreak Harlow has been organised to raise funds for "AFRICA - Trek the Great Rift Valley Challenge" which Harlow residents, Val and Nicola, will be taking part in during June 2010 to raise money for The Blue Cross - Britain's Pet Charity. They will be trekking 100km over 6 days starting at Mt. Longido, a sacred Maasai area, across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to the foothills of the Crater Highlands with members of the Maasai tribe as their guides.
All funds raised by Jailbreak Harlow will be used to support the vital work of The Blue Cross. The Blue Cross has a network of adoption centres to find loving homes for more than 6,000 unwanted and abandoned dogs cats and small family pets every year. They also provided more than 90,000 free veterinary treatments for pets whose disadvantaged, elderly or disabled owners could not afford private veterinary fees.
So, the question is, are you ready to Jailbreak Harlow?
